If the Wellsville-Middletown Tigers were riding high off their 66-34 takedown of the Liberty Christian Academy Eagles last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wellsville-Middletown took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Green City on Thursday.
Green City found their leader in underclassman Jaryn Hatcher, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Hatcher has scored at least 25% of Green City's points. Another player making a difference was Lily Crist, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Wellsville-Middletown has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Green City, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Wellsville-Middletown will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Pilot Grove on Saturday. Pilot Grove is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Green City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Braymer at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
