The Vidor Pirates have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell just short of Little Cypress-Mauriceville by a score of 55-52. Vidor lost against Little Cypress-Mauriceville in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 54-40 score last time.
Despite the loss, Vidor still got an impressive performance from Raegan Stephenson, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. Stephenson scored a full 55.8% of Vidor's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Powell, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Vidor's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-5. As for Little Cypress-Mauriceville, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-7.
Vidor will face off against Bridge City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Little Cypress-Mauriceville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lumberton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lumberton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 936th, while Little Cypress-Mauriceville is ranked 409th).
