Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Manzanola). They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Centennial Rams on Tuesday, sneaking past 51-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bobcats have posted since January 11th.
Manzanola got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dillon Pittman out in front who posted 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Pittman a new career-high in points. Zane Lange was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with ten points and nine boards.
Manzanola smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Centennial's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zach Jacquez, who went 5 for 12 to rack up 15 points along with seven assists and six steals. Jacquez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed six or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jose Molina, who went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points and four blocks.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-14. As for Centennial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manzanola will take on Cotopaxi at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Cotopaxi will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Manzanola surely won't give up without a fight. As for Centennial, they will challenge Creede at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
