The Kings Knights stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They claimed a resounding 64-37 win over Edgewood on the road. Given Kings' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Edgewood is ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Edgewood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rylie Homan. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with four steals. Homan hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was Drew Swartzel, who scored eight points.
Edgewood struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Kings is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Edgewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kings will take on Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Kings will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Fairmont surely won't give up without a fight. As for Edgewood, they will head out on the road to face off against Harrison at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Edgewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday.
