Even though the Dudley Panthers have not done well against the Ben L. Smith Golden Eagles recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Dudley managed a 53-48 victory over Ben L. Smith. The win made it back-to-back wins for Dudley.
Dudley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cortney "CJ" Jones, who scored 17 points. Jones has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jerron Blackwell, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Dudley's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.7 points per game. As for Ben L. Smith, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-3.
Dudley's road trip will continue as they head out to face High Point Central at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th. High Point Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 377th, while Dudley is ranked 159th). As for Ben L. Smith, Ben L. Smith and Atkins will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Atkins has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 281 points over their last four games.
