The Pender Pendragons put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 59-25 victory over Wisner-Pilger. Pender has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 25 points or more this season.
Pender's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hadley Walsh led the charge by scoring 15 points along with two steals. Walsh is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Kyla Krusemark was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Wisner-Pilger saw an underclassman step up: Emerson Bellar scored 13 points along with two steals. That was a full 52% of Wisner-Pilger's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Pender pushed their record up to 15-0 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.25 points. As for Wisner-Pilger, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Pender won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Glenwood at 10:25 a.m. on January 20th. Glenwood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Wisner-Pilger won't have much time to rest: their next match is against West Point-Beemer at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully West Point-Beemer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday.
