Even though the Westminster Catawba Christian Indians scored an imposing 61 points on Tuesday, the Gaston Day Spartans still came out on top. Gaston Day strolled past Westminster Catawba Christian with points to spare, taking the game 76-61. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Gaston Day also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gaston Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deshawn Coulter, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Owens, who scored 17 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Gaston Day and bumps their season record up to 7-3. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.
Gaston Day is on the road again on Friday and play against Northside Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Northside Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Gaston Day likes a good challenge. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Metrolina Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. Metrolina Christian Academy is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
