Baseball Recap: Jac-Cen-Del Wins Going Away Against Shawe Memorial

Jac-Cen-Del won the last time they faced Shawe Memorial and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Eagles blew past the Hilltoppers 13-2. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Blake Wagner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Jac-Cen-Del is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-4 otherwise. Wagner was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Dylan Ricke and Keagan Williamson did most of the damage at the plate: Ricke went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Williamson got on base in two of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Williamson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eli Rowland, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Jac-Cen-Del kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shawe Memorial only managed three hits.

Jac-Cen-Del's record is now 7-4. As for Shawe Memorial, they dropped their record down to 0-12 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Jac-Cen-Del will challenge Southwestern at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Shawe Memorial, they will square off against Trinity Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hilltoppers are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
