Baseball Recap: Connellsville Wins Going Away Against Indiana

After only two runs in their last contest, Connellsville made sure to put some runs up on the board against Indiana on Thursday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Little Indians. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Jett Dunaway spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits.

On the hitting side, Connellsville let Grayden Gillott and Matthew Firestone run wild. Gillott went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Firestone got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Firestone is becoming a predictor of Connellsville's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Noah Zawislan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

The win snapped Connellsville's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-5 record. As for Indiana, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 13-1.

Looking ahead, Connellsville will look to defend their home field on Monday against Gateway at 4:00 p.m. As for Indiana, they are taking a road trip to face off against Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
