After a string of three wins, the Blue River Valley Vikings's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. Their rough 61-39 loss to Northeastern might stick with them for a while. Blue River Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-17.
When it comes to explaining why Blue River Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maciah Driskill. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Driskill hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Charlee Gibson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Northeastern was led to victory by Ava Mikesell and Adysson Kircher. Mikesell scored nine points along with eight assists and six steals, while Kircher scored 23 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Mikesell posted eight or more assists. Cami Angi was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Blue River Valley's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Northeastern, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Blue River Valley will stay at home for another game and welcome Monroe Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. As for Northeastern, they will head out on the road to challenge Winchester Community at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Winchester Community will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
