The Bear Creek Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 26 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Thomas Jefferson on Thursday as Bear Creek made off with a 59-33 win. The win was just what Bear Creek needed coming off of a 53-27 loss in their prior contest.
Bear Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivia Kan led the charge by scoring 14 points along with eight steals. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Johnson, who scored 12 points along with six steals.
Thomas Jefferson's loss came despite strong showings from Lucy Lloyd and Leyna McClinon. Lloyd scored nine points along with five rebounds, while McClinon scored three points. McClinon is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Thomas Jefferson struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Bear Creek now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Thomas Jefferson, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Bear Creek will head out on the road to face off against Longmont at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Longmont is ranked 121st, while Bear Creek is ranked 146th). Thomas Jefferson won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Evergreen at 3:30 p.m. on December 15th. Evergreen is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
