The Durango Trailblazers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight loss. They took a 63-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Centennial. Durango was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Centennial apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Durango's loss came despite strong showings from Drake Afe-Passion and Andrew Chavez. Afe-Passion scored 18 points along with two steals, while Chavez scored ten points along with six rebounds. Afe-Passion has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Treyvion Mitchell, who scored two points along with nine rebounds.
RJ Nance was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with three steals for Centennial. Nance is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Malcolm Wilson, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Durango has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Centennial, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Durango will head out on the road to challenge Spring Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Spring Valley has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19. As for Centennial, they will be playing at home against Desert Pines at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Desert Pines is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.2 points per game.
