The South Point Pointers lost against the Fairland Dragons back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. South Point was dealt a 71-23 loss at the hands of Fairland. South Point has struggled against Fairland recently, as their game on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Fairland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bree Allen led the charge by scoring 26 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Allen scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Bailey Russell, who scored 21 points along with five steals.
South Point's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Fairland, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
South Point will be home for the holidays to greet Gallia Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fairland, they will head out on the road to face off against Chesapeake at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Chesapeake will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 713th, while Fairland is ranked 21st).
