On Thursday, the Iowa Yellowjackets faced the Peabody Warhorses in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Iowa took a 57-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Peabody. Iowa's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Peabody had a senior duo take command as Justin Burns dropped a double-double on 20 points and 20 rebounds and Jordan Mathews dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The game was Mathews' sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gregory McGinnis Jr., who scored eight points.
Iowa's loss dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Peabody, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Iowa won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lafayette. Lafayette is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Peabody won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Zachary at 8:00 p.m. on December 8th. Zachary knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully Peabody likes a good challenge.
