The Loomis Wolves were the 56-46 winner over the Axtell Wildcats when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Loomis took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats on Friday. Loomis has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Loomis saw an underclassman step up: Ben Trompke scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Cale Nelson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Axtell's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Lindau, who scored 16 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Halvorsen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Loomis' defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Axtell, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Loomis will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Axtell, they will head out on the road to challenge the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
