1A Southern Peaks recap November 5, 2013
Centauri extended the longest winning streak in 1A Southern Peaks this week by beating Wray, 28-0. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Centauri took down the Eagles 28-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Monte Vista's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Michael Sanchez threw for 191 and 1 touchdown and Mitch Vanderpool had 84 yards receiving. On the ground Jacob Vance contributed 115 yards. Dillon Martinez helped Monte Vista's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 58 yards.
The Pirates' dynamic duo of Sanchez and Vanderpool proved to be unstoppable against Cedaredge, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Martinez helped Monte Vista's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 58 yards.
Ignacio's Adison Jones and Clayton Jefferson led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jones has thrown for 1,997 yards this season, while Jefferson has 51 catches for 740 yards. Kyle Forster's team's Jason Buhr leads the league in rushing yards with 839.
The Falcons made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,780 from 4,865. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 28-0 victory over Wray last week.
