Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wellston). They came out on top against the River Valley Raiders by a score of 59-51 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Golden Rockets also won the last time the pair played back in February.

River Valley's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Braden Bennett, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 17 points in addition to five boards and four steals, and Jansyn Smith, who posted 14 points. Those 14 points gave Smith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landon Burns, who put up 12 points and eight rebounds.

Wellston picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for River Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wellston and Waterford will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wellston is facing Waterford at the right time seeing as Waterford is stuck on a three-game losing streak. River Valley will take on Warren in a holiday battle at at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.
