Corbin had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 18-12 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Model Patriots 17-2. The Redhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by eight runs or more this season.
Kade Elam made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Corbin is 9-1 when Elam posts two or more runs, but 9-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, Corbin got a massive performance out of Trey Person, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Person a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cam Estep, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Corbin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Model only posted an OBP of .235.
As for Model, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.
On Model's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Gorbett, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corbin will take on Great Crossing at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Great Crossing will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Corbin surely won't give up without a fight. As for Model, they will face off against Bourbon County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
