Basketball Recap: Moapa Valley Comes Up Short

Moapa Valley lost against Democracy Prep Agassi Campus back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Moapa Valley Pirates fell 87-74 to the Democracy Prep Agassi Campus Blue Knights. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Blue Knights are ranked eighth).

Loss or not, Moapa Valley got some senior leadership from Bryson Walker and Brigham Whitmore. Walker dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 boards, while Whitmore dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Walker is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 12 games he's played. Caden Rawson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Moapa Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Moapa Valley dropped their record down to 7-12 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Their recent woes sure aren't a result of their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 34.8% in those games and 17.5% outside of them. As for Democracy Prep Agassi Campus, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-5.

Moapa Valley has already played their next matchup (against Virgin Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Democracy Prep Agassi Campus will head out to face off against Mater Academy East Las Vegas at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mater Academy East Las Vegas will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Democracy Prep Agassi Campus surely won't give up without a fight.
