It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Estacado Matadors can now relate to. They were beaten by the Eagles 52-21 on Friday. Estacado's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Estacado lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dj Johnson. Despite the final result, he threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns. Devoryea Boyd was in the mix as well, providing Estacado with two touchdowns.
Nate palmer was his usual excellent self, rushing for 224 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry for Decatur. Palmer has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last five times he's played.
Estacado's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Decatur, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Estacado does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Decatur will head out on the road to face off against Brownwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brownwood is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
