The Magruder Colonels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were the victim of a rough 47-25 loss at the hands of Walter Johnson. While losing is never fun, Magruder can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Wildcats are ranked 91st).
Walter Johnson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kendall Alexander, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Alexander hasn't dropped below three steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Norah Youssef, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Magruder has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Walter Johnson, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Magruder will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Falcons at 7:15 p.m. on February 13th. As for Walter Johnson, they will be playing at home against the Barons at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Bethesda-Chevy Chase is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
