Even though the Freeport Pretzels have not done well against the Hononegah Indians recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Freeport came out on top against the Indians by a score of 71-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Kal-el Sims had an outrageously good game as he scored 18 points along with six assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was Dedric Macon, who scored 19 points.
Freeport's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Hononegah, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.
Freeport won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th. Central is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56 points per game this season. As for Hononegah, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the E-Rabs at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Rockford East focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
