The Flanagan Falcons were the 57-46 winner over the McArthur Mustangs when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Flanagan suffered a tough 46-26 loss at the hands of McArthur on Tuesday. Flanagan has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Flanagan saw an underclassman step up: D?naela Myers dropped a double-double on 11 points and 20 rebounds. Myers is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season.
Even though they lost, Flanagan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McArthur only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
McArthur's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jahnya Lewis led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Soerayah Pradel, who scored 16 points.
Flanagan's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for McArthur, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Flanagan won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Coral Springs Charter at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st. Coral Springs Charter will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Flanagan surely won't give up without a fight. McArthur is on the road again on Monday and plays Everglades at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. Everglades will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 515th, while McArthur is ranked 142nd).
