Cape Fear has gone 8-2 against Gray's Creek recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Colts will take on the Bears at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cape Fear's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 25-0 margin over Douglas Byrd. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Colts.
Ethan Cobb made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Parker Wallace was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Spencer Smith also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Cape Fear always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Gray's Creek made easy work of Jack Britt on Tuesday and carried off a 13-0 win.
Like Cape Fear, Gray's Creek also got a great game from a two-way player: Mason Barnes. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Barnes was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Davis Reed, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Tyler Jasinski was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Gray's Creek pushed their record up to 13-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cape Fear, their record now sits at 15-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cape Fear has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gray's Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Cape Fear's way against Gray's Creek in their previous meeting back in March, as Cape Fear made off with an 8-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colts since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
