If the Wayne Academy Jaguars were riding high off their 49-28 takedown of the Park Place Christian Academy Crusaders last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wayne Academy had to suffer through a rough 62-25 loss at the hands of the Raiders. Wayne Academy has not had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Lamar was led to victory by Aryah Grace and Blake Hart. Grace scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Hart almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine assists. Hart is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Dudley Reed, who scored six points along with 19 rebounds and three blocks.
Wayne Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 17 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season. As for Lamar, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-12.
Wayne Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lamar will square off against the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Rankin Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Raiders in Mississippi (the Patriots are ranked 19th, while the Raiders are ranked 76th).
