While it was all tied up 27-27 at halftime, the Centennial Titans were not quite the Walnut Grove Wildcats's equal in the second half on Friday. Centennial took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Walnut Grove. While losing is never fun, Centennial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 379th, while Walnut Grove is ranked 100th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Walnut Grove to victory, but perhaps none more so than Parker Evanson, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Schaack, who scored 11 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Centennial and nudges their season record down to 10-14. As for Walnut Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centennial will take on Independence at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Walnut Grove, they will be playing at home against Emerson at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Emerson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
