Baseball Recap: St. Augustine Catholic's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

St. Augustine Catholic can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They put the hurt on the San Miguel Vipers with a sharp 17-1 win. With that victory, the Wolves brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Owen Ernle made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because St. Augustine Catholic is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-12 otherwise. Ernle was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Gabriel Dominguez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Che Robles was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

St. Augustine Catholic's win bumped their record up to 4-13. As for San Miguel, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Augustine Catholic will host Benson at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for San Miguel, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bisbee at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. The Pumas will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Vipers surely won't give up without a fight.
