The St. Ignatius Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Louisville Leopards at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
St. Ignatius took care of business in their home opener on Saturday (and then some). They claimed a resounding 79-52 victory over Medina at home.
St. Ignatius' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Quinn Woidke, who scored 19 points along with 3 steals, and Jack Zapolnik, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Robinson, who scored 7 points.
Meanwhile, Louisville had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against South Range by a score of 71-61 on Saturday.
Among those leading the charge was Hayden Nigro, who scored 28 points. Brayden Gross was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 5 rebounds.
St. Ignatius' win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Louisville, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 1-0.
Everything came up roses for St. Ignatius against Louisville when the teams last played back in January of 2020 as the team secured a 68-30 victory. Will St. Ignatius repeat their success, or does Louisville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
