On Thursday, the Orem Tigers faced the Dixie Flyers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Orem skirted past Dixie 55-53. Winning may never get old, but Orem sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Orem's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chance Dastrup, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists. That's the first time this season that Dastrup scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Tate Robinson, who scored 14 points.
Dixie lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kyle Lemke, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Lemke's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Weidauer, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Dixie were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orem only racked up 12 assists.
Orem's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Dixie, their loss dropped their record down to 5-1.
Orem will take on West Ranch in a holiday battle at 12:00 p.m. on Monday at. West Ranch has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 319 points over their last four games. Dixie won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Timpview at 5:15 p.m. on December 15th. Timpview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Dixie is ranked tenth).
