Lloyd Memorial hasn't had much luck against Beechwood recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts will face off against the Beechwood Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Lloyd Memorial made easy work of Newport and carried off a 22-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Juggernauts in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.
Conner Drake made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Drake was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, KJ Nussbaum looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Hayden Hungler, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Paul Soard, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with two RBI.
Lloyd Memorial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newport only posted an OBP of .222.
Meanwhile, Beechwood earned a 6-3 victory over Boone County on Wednesday.
Caleb Arrasmith looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Tyler Fryman was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavinn Ollier, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Lloyd Memorial's record now sits at 2-0. As for Beechwood, their record now sits at 3-1.
Lloyd Memorial might still be hurting after the 19-1 defeat they got from Beechwood in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Lloyd Memorial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
