The Hagerty Huskies were the 63-55 winner over the Lake Mary Rams when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Hagerty received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 45-31 to Lake Mary. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hagerty has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Hagerty lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kylee Kitts. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Kitts is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Celine Merlin was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds.
Hagerty's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Lake Mary, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hagerty will face off against Gateway at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Gateway is ranked 121st, while Hagerty is ranked 107th). Lake Mary on the road again on Monday and play against Lake Brantley at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. The timing isn't great for Lake Brantley: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while Lake Mary has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
