Meeker has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Limon Badgers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Meeker rose to the challenge on Saturday. They blew past Buena Vista 28-7. With Meeker ahead 21-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Meeker relied on the efforts of Clay Crawford, who rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown, and Cade Blunt, who rushed for 75 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Limon put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Banning Lewis Academy as Limon made off with a 41-18 victory. Limon pushed the score to 26-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Banning Lewis Academy cut but never quite recovered from.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Lohgan Bottjer and Chase Riehle. Bottjer had a great game and gained 152 total yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Riehle was balling out in the loss, rushing for 161 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
Meeker's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Limon, they pushed their record up to 11-0 with that win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Saturday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Meeker has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 190.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Limon struggles in that department as they've been even better at 287.4 per game. It's looking like Saturday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
