Bladensburg has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the High Point Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Bladensburg suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were beaten by Wise 70-40. While losing is never fun, Bladensburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Wise is ranked 46th).
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to High Point, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They took a 69-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Suitland on Thursday. High Point has struggled against Suitland recently, as their match on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their loss, High Point saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ibrahim Turay, who scored 23 points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 38.3% of High Point's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadan Solomonraj, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Bladensburg's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-7. As for High Point, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
Bladensburg was able to grind out a solid victory over High Point when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 42-32. Does Bladensburg have another victory up their sleeve, or will High Point turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
