After a string of three wins, the Gulf Shores Dolphins's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to Murphy 55-50. Gulf Shores lost against Murphy in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 48-38 score last time.
Leading Murphy to victory were Cordairus Dixon and Jayden Mangram. Dixon scored 13 points, while Mangram scored 14 points along with 3 steals. Dixon is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now stole two or more in the last three games he's played. Jabaris Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 5 rebounds.
Gulf Shores has yet to win a game at home this season, leaving them with a 6-2 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Murphy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gulf Shores will play host again and welcome Bayside Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Murphy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against UMS-Wright Prep at 7:30 p.m. on November 29th. UMS-Wright Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Murphy is ranked 48th).
