The Novi Wildcats lost against the Canton Chiefs back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Novi was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to Canton. Novi has not had much luck with Canton recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Novi lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chase LeFevre, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals. LeFevre is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brendan Lynch, who scored ten points.
Canton had a senior duo take command as Bradley Eziuka scored 21 points along with two steals and Devon Pettus scored 15 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Eziuka hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Williams, who scored seven points.
Novi's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Canton, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Novi will face off against Northville at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Novi likes a good challenge. As for Canton, they will head out on the road to challenge Howell at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Howell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Canton is ranked 42nd).
