Grant Kuntz had a dynamite game for Fleming, rushing for 247 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. Kuntz was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fleming was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 322 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wauneta-Palisade only rushed for 192.
Despite the defeat, Wauneta-Palisade saw an underclassman step up: Kreyton Wiese rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 51 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in rushing yards.
The win got Fleming back to even at 1-1. As for Wauneta-Palisade, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fleming will welcome North Park at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Wauneta-Palisade, they will challenge Banner County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
