The Chillicothe Hornets came tearing into Friday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 49-39 win over Benton. For Chillicothe, this counts as revenge for the 50-39 loss the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.
Chillicothe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Liz Oliver led the charge by scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Kayanna Cranmer was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Chillicothe's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Benton, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chillicothe will take on the at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Benton, they will be playing at home against the Fighting Irish at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
