The Douglas Bulldogs waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They strolled past Sahuarita with points to spare, taking the game 60-46. That's another feather in the cap for Douglas, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Francia Rubio, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. She hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Keyra Espinosa, who scored 19 points.
Douglas' victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Sahuarita, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.
Douglas will be playing in front of their home fans against Walden Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Walden Grove has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15. As for Sahuarita, they will head out on the road to face off against Mica Mountain at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Mica Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
