After both having extra time off, the St. Michael the Archangel Guardians and the Benton Cardinals will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.
Last Thursday, St. Michael the Archangel was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 72-68 to Central.
Meanwhile, Benton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four last Thursday. They walked away with a 57-49 win over Barstow.
St. Michael the Archangel's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Benton, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4.
St. Michael the Archangel strolled past Benton in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 64-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Michael the Archangel since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
