There's no place like home for the Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They breezed by San Ysidro at home to the tune of 95-52. Given Mater Dei Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while San Ysidro is ranked 875th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mater Dei Catholic found their leader in underclassman Lincoln Grogan, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah K Bragg, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Mater Dei Catholic's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for San Ysidro, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mater Dei Catholic will face off against Montgomery at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Montgomery has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 387 points over their last five matches. As for San Ysidro, they will head out on the road to take on Bonita Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bonita Vista is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
