The Tri-West Hendricks Bruins will venture away from home to face off against the Beech Grove Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tri-West Hendricks is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Tri-West Hendricks fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against McCutcheon on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mavericks by a score of 4-3. The Bruins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Natalie Tharp spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Kacee Trivett and Savannah Neal did some serious damage despite the final result: Trivett went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Neal went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Neal's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emma Charles, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Beech Grove, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Centerville on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.
Beech Grove also let their pitcher toss all six innings played and she was also dialed-in: Kyrah Pierle gave up just two earned runs on eight hits. Pierle has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Harper Moore, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Corn, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Beech Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Tri-West Hendricks' loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Beech Grove, their record now sits at 5-15.
Beech Grove's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tri-West Hendricks has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Beech Grove, though, as they've been averaging 12 hits. Given Tri-West Hendricks' sizable advantage in that area, the Hornets will need to find a way to close that gap.
Tri-West Hendricks got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Beech Grove by a conclusive 12-6 score. Do the Bruins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
