The Coffee Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cass Colonels at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Coffee sitting on 12 straight victories and Cass on three.
With a playoff game on the line, Coffee rose to the challenge on Friday. They really took it to the Greyhounds for the full four quarters, racking up a 45-14 victory at home. Coffee might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won ten matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Fred Brown was his usual excellent self, rushing for 235 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Brown is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Maurice Hansley was another key contributor, rushing for 30 yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Coffee's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Elgie Paulk and Lorenzo Harvey who racked up five sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Cass beat Mays 17-7 on Friday.
Coffee has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 38.44 points. As for Cass, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
