The Horizon Scorpions will challenge the Del Valle Conquistadores at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Horizon sitting on eight straight wins and Del Valle on three.
While Horizon's victory against Hanks wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Horizon skirted past Hanks 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Scorpions have posted since February 27th.
Meanwhile, Del Valle was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Bel Air.
BRYAN GARCIA was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. GARCIA was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, DIEGO VILLALOBOS was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was ISAIAH GONZALEZ, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI.
Del Valle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bel Air only posted an OBP of .333.
Horizon's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Del Valle, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Horizon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Del Valle struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Horizon beat Del Valle 5-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Horizon repeat their success, or does Del Valle has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
