After two games on the road, Juniata Christian is heading back home. They will take on the Bridgeport Baptist Academy Broncos at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Thursday, Juniata Christian ended up a good deal behind Springfield Christian Academy and lost 54-38.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Blake Smith, who scored 11 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jake Houk, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Bridgeport Baptist Academy, who are still winless after their fifth matchup. Their rough 47-24 loss to Community Baptist Christian back in December of 2023 might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Bridgeport Baptist Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 660th, while Community Baptist Christian is ranked 209th).
Juniata Christian's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.8 points per game. As for Bridgeport Baptist Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Everything went Juniata Christian's way against Bridgeport Baptist Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as Juniata Christian made off with a 43-20 victory.
