The Central Cabarrus Vikings will challenge the Piedmont Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Cabarrus will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Central Cabarrus was able to grind out a solid win over East Rowan, taking the game 4-1. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by exactly three runs.

Taryn Jenkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kinley Hood, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Piedmont unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Alexander Central by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since May 25, 2024.
Sarah Belk made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
Central Cabarrus' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Piedmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
Central Cabarrus' speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. The Vikings have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Piedmont, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Central Cabarrus continue to outrun the ball?
Central Cabarrus was able to grind out a solid victory over Piedmont when the teams last played back in March of 2022, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
