The Cotulla Cowboys's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dilley. Cotulla was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Dilley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Leading Dilley to victory were Dorian Aranda and Jacob Lopez. Aranda dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Lopez scored 24 points along with five assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Aranda has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Benjamin Gonzales, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Cotulla has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-20 record this season. As for Dilley, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-19.
Cotulla will head out on the road to face off against Hondo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cotulla is coming into the game with six straight losses on the road, meaning Hondo will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Dilley, they will be playing at home against Crystal City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Crystal City knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Dilley likes a good challenge.
