The Moberly Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Oak Grove Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Moberly focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Tuesday.
Moberly couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Monroe City by a score of 50-48.
The losing side was boosted by Mason Bivins, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cameron Doubrava, who scored 12 points.
Even though Oak Grove has not done well against Lone Jack recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Oak Grove snuck past Lone Jack with a 55-49 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Oak Grove.
Phillip Nadeau and Maurkalip Riley were among the main playmakers for Oak Grove as the former scored 16 points along with 3 steals and the latter scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Aaron Reeves was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Moberly's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Oak Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
Moberly took their victory against Oak Grove in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 53-29. Does Moberly have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oak Grove turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
