Little Kanawha recap October 22, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Little Kanawha this week, St. Marys beat Magnolia 11-9. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Gilmer County took down Hannan 64-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
St. Marys' dynamic duo of Michael Stout and David Gray proved tough for the Blue Eagles to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Stout threw for 51 yards and Gray had 37 yards receiving.
Wyatt Ford was a passing and rushing force as Doddridge County defeated Eastern. Ford's key target this week was Jarrod Sandy, who caught 3 passes for 35 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Austin Cunningham of the Titans is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,093. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Colby Brode. The St. Marys star has 13 catches for 384 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Parkersburg Catholic takes on Williamstown. As it stands, the Crusaders are in third, while the Yellowjackets are in second.
Jodi Mote's team and Magnolia played the closest game in the league this week, with Jodi Mote's team eventually emerging with a 11-9 victory. Gray ran for 133 yards and caught 1 pass for 37 yards in the win.
