The Apex Cougars lost against the Middle Creek Mustangs back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Apex fell 43-33 to Middle Creek. While losing is never fun, Apex can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Middle Creek is ranked 62nd).
Apex lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isabella Pease, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Joi Pergerson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Middle Creek, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Pergerson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times she's played. Alysia Pergerson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven steals.
Apex's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Middle Creek, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 12-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apex the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Green Hope at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. Middle Creek will take on Green Level at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
