The Northwestern Bulls can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They secured a 43-37 W over Doral Academy. Given Northwestern's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Doral Academy is ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northwestern was led to victory by Myron Parker Jr. and Calvin Russel. Parker Jr. scored 11 points, while Russel scored 12 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The contest was Russel's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Giovanny Desire, who scored eight points.
Northwestern pushed their record up to 8-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Doral Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
Northwestern won't have much time to rest: their next match is against American at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. American has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Doral Academy, they will take on Divine Savior Academy at 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
